What is Sapphire FUE?

Extraction and implantation are the same as in classic FUE. The one change is the blade: the small incisions that receive the grafts are made with sapphire-tipped blades, which are very sharp and smooth, rather than with steel.

Clinics say sapphire blades make smaller, cleaner channels, allow denser packing and heal faster. Independent studies comparing sapphire and steel directly are few, so treat these as claims; the surgeon's skill with the blade matters more than the material.

How is Sapphire FUE performed?

  1. Planning and local anaesthesia, as in FUE.
  2. Extraction of the grafts one by one with a micro-punch.
  3. Channels opened with sapphire blades, setting the angle, direction and density of the new hair.
  4. Implantation of the grafts into the channels with forceps.

Who is Sapphire FUE for?

The same patients as FUE: most men with pattern hair loss and a healthy donor area, including large sessions. It is often chosen for the hairline, where small channels and dense packing matter most.

It does not make up for a weak donor area, and it is not a way to avoid shaving; for an unshaven recipient area, DHI or an unshaven technique is the usual option.

How much does Sapphire FUE cost in Turkey?

52 of the 75 Sapphire FUE clinics in our database publish a price. Starting prices begin at €1,290 and the median is €2,053. Many Turkish clinics now use sapphire blades as standard, so a large surcharge for "sapphire" alone deserves a question.

What is recovery like after Sapphire FUE?

Recovery follows the FUE timeline: about 2 weeks for the skin and 12 months for the final result. Our recovery timeline covers it day by day.

Frequently asked questions

Is Sapphire FUE better than classic FUE?

It can give smaller channels, but the evidence that it produces better results than well-performed steel FUE is limited. Choose the clinic for the surgeon and the team, not for the blade.

Is Sapphire FUE more expensive?

Sometimes slightly. In our database the median published starting price is €2,053 for Sapphire FUE and €2,148 for FUE overall.

Does Sapphire FUE heal faster?

Clinics often say so because the channels are smaller. In most patients the skin still takes about 2 weeks to heal, whatever the blade.

Is Sapphire FUE the same as DHI?

No. Sapphire FUE opens the channels first with sapphire blades and places the grafts with forceps; DHI uses an implanter pen that makes the incision and places the graft in one step.
